Westmalle
Westmalle Abbey, Belgium, has been brewing the three beers that still make its reputation today since the 20th century: Extra, Dubbel (1926) and Tripel (1934). The latter is the mother of all tripels, the first of its kind, with its ripe banana aromas and a hoppy finish that is drier than its 9.5% might suggest. It is still the benchmark nearly 100 years later. Extra and Dubbel are not to be forgotten in terms of quality, they are among the best examples of their respective styles. The brewery obeys the three famous rules defining an "authentic Trappist product": production on the abbey site, supervised by the monks and not for profit. Santé!
