Julien Thurel
Julien Thurel's cellars and cider orchards have been rooted in the town of Loury, on the edge of the Orléans forest, since 2010. Their ciders are made from open-air orchards that are around 30 years old and their perries come from pear trees between 1 and 3 centuries old. They work according to the precepts of agroecology and have been committed to organic farming since their beginnings. Their fruits are picked by hand, variety by variety, then finish ripening under shelter. Following a slow pressing, each varietal juice is put into oak barrels for fermentation. The barrels are then assembled in order to compose each cuvée. Julien Thurel is working to restore a forgotten and less known cider-growing region.
